Grace Lutheran Church offers Sunday school classes for our smallest tots all the way to our grandparents. Our focus is to extol the life of Jesus and bring the blessings of the Gospel to all ages.
For our younger members we follow the Sunday School Programs created by Concordia Publishing House, and for our seniors the pastor prepares Bible studies created from acceptable Lutheran commentaries, theological essays, and the Early Church Fathers.
The materials provided help each group to grow in the Word of the Lord, and thereby strengthen and build their faith, fortifying them against the devil, the world, and their flesh.
To meet the needs of our younger children's Christian education Grace Lutheran Church offers Sunday School lessons focused on different age groups:
Early Childhood; 3 year olds to Kindergarten
Grades 1-2
Grades 3-4
Grades 5-6
Sunday morning Teen Bible Study is a continuation of our children's Christian education with emphasis on doctrine derived from the Word of God, The Lutheran Confessions, and Luther's Small Catechism. For our Middle Schooler's and High Schooler's we use appropriate material from Concordia Publishing House. Our teens are divided into two study groups:
Middle School Teens and High School Teens
Grace Lutheran Church offers two Adult Bible Classes; on Sunday mornings following Divine Service on Sunday's and on Wednesday mornings at 10:15AM.
The material for each of these classes is prepared by the pastor, which is created from Holy Scripture, the Lutheran Confessions, acceptable Lutheran commentaries, theological essays, and the Early Church Fathers; to prepare and strengthen the faithful in their walk with God.
All adults not having been baptized are received into baptismal membership through Holy Baptism.
Adult Instruction classes for those desiring to join Grace Lutheran Church are conducted on an as needed basis. The adult class is an in-depth study of Luther's Small Catechism, liturgical worship, and Lutheran doctrine as contained in The Book of Concord which leads to confirmation and admission to the Lord's Supper.
Children of members are received into membership through Holy Baptism and given instruction leading to confirmation and admission to the Lord's Supper.
As our children obtain the age of 8 they are Catechized with Luther's Small Catechism in preparation to receive the Lord's Supper. This instruction teaches the six chief parts of the Christian religion: The Ten Commandments; the Lord's Prayer; the Apostles' Creed; Holy Baptism; Confession; and the Lord's Supper.
As they obtain the age of 12, they are enrolled in a two year catechetical program with an increased focused Dr. Martin Luther's Small Catechism, Lutheran Worship, Scriptural memorization, the Lutheran Confessions, and the history of the Reformation to build a solid understanding of what it means to be Lutheran.
After completing this two year program the children are confirmed into membership of Grace Lutheran Church; for those who have not been brought into communion fellowship prior to confirmation, they are now invited to receive the Lord's Supper at the chancel rail, and are therefore received into full communion fellowship with the congregation.
